The magical Sierra Mixe
The eternally misty mountains of the little-known region of Oaxaca known as the Sierra Mixe are home to one of the few indigenous groups never conquered by the mighty Aztecs.
As such, the Mixes are the guardians of some of Mexico’s most ancient culinary traditions.
They’ve given Jim, founder of Martaja, about the most unforgettable travel experiences of his life on at least three occasions, even welcoming his family to the area on their first trip to Mexico in late 2024.
