our Locations

You want your cooking class to be as memorable as possible, and we want our work to have a positive impact beyond the kitchen. That’s why we search high and low for unique venues few visitors would ever discover and help local hosts share the Mexico City they call home.

MARTAJA HOME

More than anywhere else, this is where Martaja feels like being welcomed into an old friend’s Mexico City home.

Martaja's first cooking classes were held at our founder’s apartment in beautiful La Condesa, and this Art Deco space remains our most popular location.

Nestled between the neighborhood's two iconic parks and built in the 1930s, the flat retains original Art Deco features, with its colorful tiles being a particular favorite among guests. It’s also home to Jim's collection of handicrafts from across Mexico and around the world, each with its own story to tell.

Please note that the building has no elevator, and the apartment is home to two exceptionally friendly cats. If you have allergies, just let us know, and we're happy to provide medication. Most classes at Martaja Home have a capacity of 2-8 guests.

MARTAJA ROOFTOP

Art lovers, rejoice! You can make your cooking class truly unique by taking it on the rooftop terrace of Condesa print gallery Lugar de Huida.

Home to some of the neighborhood’s most distinctive artworks, Lugar de Huida, or "Place to Escape To" in Spanish, became something of a refuge for our founder long before Martaja existed. When he and the gallery’s owner went from being vendor and customer to close friends, it led to the opening of Martaja's most unexpected venue: the gallery’s leafy rooftop.

Guests begin by passing through the working studio of a local sculptor before climbing to a terrace filled with plants, a striking mural by one of the gallery’s most popular artists, and an eclectic collection of other works, including the discarded busts of former Mexican presidents. During jacaranda season, the canopy of purple blossoms across the street provides a spectacular backdrop, making every class taken at this hideout feel like a special occasion.

If you love Mexico City for its creativity and independent spirit, you'll feel right at home cooking its favorite dishes here.

Please note that the rooftop is accessed via several steep staircases. Between June and September, particularly in the evenings, classes may occasionally be relocated due to rain. Most classes at Martaja Rooftop have a capacity of 4-12 guests.

MARTAJA AGAVE

Housed in a former neighborhood butcher's shop well clear of the beaten track, Martaja Agave is a celebration of both historic Colonia Guerrero and Mexico's tequila and mezcal heritage.

Lovingly reimagined by meatmonger's son and local tequila aficionado Mickey Marentes, this educational tasting room combines original architectural details with Mickey's remarkable collection of agave-spirit memorabilia.

Martaja's newest location is a place where every object has a story, making the venue itself part of the experience. If you're fascinated by tequila, mezcal, or the hidden stories of Mexico City itself, this is an unforgettable place in which to cook.

Most classes at Martaja Agave have a capacity of 4-12 guests.
